Irrigation dept. directed to constitute technical committee on safety measures of Singur project


The State Government has directed the Irrigation department officials to constitute a technical committee to assess the safety measures pertaining to Singur project.

Steps are to be initiated to ensure that the project adhered to the safety standards prescribed by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, C. Damodar Rajanarasimha and Vivek Venkataswamy gave the instructions after reviewing the safety measures put in place at the Singur dam on Wednesday.

The Ministers directed the officials concerned to expedite preparation of the detailed project report pertaining to Peddareddy lift irrigation scheme in Andole constituency forming part of the Singur project. The DPR of the project, envisaging irrigation water to 40,000 acres, should reach the Government soon so that works could commence by Ugadi.

They directed the officials to complete lining of canals of Singur project by June 26 as also the commencement of works pertaining to beautification and safety of the projects. The officials were directed to complete tender process pertaining to restoration of water tanks and other projects proposed in Andole constituency so that water could be provided at the earliest to take up agricultural works.
