CBSE cancels Class X board exams for students in Gulf countries

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday (March 5, 2026) announced that Class X board examinations for students appearing in Gulf countries stood cancelled after a “critical review of the prevailing situation in parts of the Middle East”. The board added that the mode of declaration of results for these students would be announced separately “in due time”.

In the same circular on Thursday, the CBSE added that Class XII board exams, scheduled to be held on Saturday (March 7) for students in these countries, had been postponed till further notice.

This is the third circular the CBSE has issued for students taking board examinations from Gulf countries like Bahrain, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia since the conflict in West Asia broke out.

On Tuesday, the CBSE had postponed both Class X and XII board examinations scheduled to be held on March 5 and 6.

In the latest circular, the CBSE reiterated that students should “remain in close contact” with their schools and only rely on official announcements.

As of December 2024, the Education Ministry data said there were about 214 middle, secondary, and senior secondary schools affiliated to the CBSE in the seven countries mentioned above. However, this list may include repetitions (senior secondary schools that may also be offering secondary and middle school classes).Class XII board exams, scheduled to be held on March 7 for students in these countries, have been postponed till further notice
