The Sreekandapuram police in Kannnur, Kerala, has registered a case against a man for allegedly posting a comment on social media describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “traitor”.
The case was registered under the provisions of the Information Technology Act against C. Rajan of Panchammoola in Kottoor, following a complaint lodged by Sanju Krishnakumar, president of the BJP Irikkur Assembly constituency committee.
According to the police, the comment was posted under a social media post reporting that the Prime Minister had crossed 10 crore followers on Instagram. Mr. Rajan allegedly wrote a remark referring to the Prime Minister as a “traitor”.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and initiated further investigation.
Meanwhile, BJP district committee member T.V. Ramesan demanded that the accused withdraw the comment and issue an apology.
