ACB arrests junior assistant in Quthbullapur for accepting ₹15,000 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested a junior assistant in-charge of Grama Paalana Officer duties while taking bribe at the Quthbullapur Tahsil Office in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

The accused, G. Ganesh, a Village Revenue Officer, was trapped on Monday (March 2) by the ACB City Range I unit when he allegedly demanded ₹20,000 from a complainant for processing and issuing a family member certificate. He was caught while accepting ₹15,000, after having collected ₹5,000 earlier in cash as initial payment.

ACB officials said the tainted amount of ₹15,000 was recovered from his possession at his instance. The officer allegedly acted dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. He is being produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons. The case is under investigation.

The ACB has urged the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll free number 1064. Complaints can also be made through its official social media platforms, and officials stated that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
