A Confusing Loop with an Outdated Love Story

Best Comedy Movie 2025 “Bhool Chuk Maaf” tries to mix a time-travel twist with romance and small-town fun. On paper, it seems exciting. But in reality, the film feels slow, confusing, and disappointing. Even with Rajkummar Rao’s talent, the movie struggles to hold your attention. The love story feels one-sided and forced, and the comedy is outdated.

The Storyline: Stuck in Time and Trouble

Ranjan Tiwari (Rajkummar Rao) loves Titli (Wamiqa Gabbi). Her father agrees to their wedding only if Ranjan gets a government job within two months. After trying and failing for years, Ranjan tries bribing someone for the job. When that fails too, he turns to prayer, promising to do a good deed if his wish is granted.

He finally gets the job, but then something strange happens — he gets trapped in a time loop, reliving the day before his wedding again and again. Now, he must figure out how to break free and make it to his wedding day.

The Big Problem: Nothing Feels Real

The idea of a time loop is interesting and setting the story in Varanasi brings a spiritual touch. But the movie moves too slowly. It takes more than an hour just to reach the main conflict, which was already shown in the trailer. The chemistry between the lead pair is weak. Titli never seems truly in love with Ranjan, and her reactions often feel over-the-top and unnatural.

Old Ideas Wrapped in a New Package

Titli is shown as a smart girl from a good family, but she seems ready to give up everything — even her mother’s jewelry — for a man who hasn’t achieved much. This sends a wrong message, as if marriage is the only dream a woman from a small town should have. It feels outdated and unfair.

The movie also includes some problematic lines. For example, it jokes about how easy childbirth is and mocks a man whose wife earns through a pickle business. These moments feel disrespectful and out of place in today’s world.

Performances and Direction Rajkummar Rao gives his best as always. His comic timing and honest acting are the only things that hold the film together. But even he can’t cover up the weak writing and direction. The movie feels incomplete and lost.

Wamiqa Gabbi’s character feels loud and confused. Sanjay Mishra and Raghubir Yadav try to add life to the film, but can only do so much.

Final Words

“Bhool Chuk Maaf” had potential — a time loop, a spiritual setting, and a strong lead actor. But poor writing, slow pace, weak love story, and outdated jokes bring it down. It tries to be funny, meaningful, and dramatic all at once, but ends up being none of those fully.

If you’re looking for pure comedy or heartfelt love, this film might not be for you. It feels like it’s trying too hard to send a message, when all it needed was a simple, honest story.

Verdict:
A film stuck in its own loop — of old ideas, slow story, and missed chances. Watch only if you’re a big fan of Rajkummar Rao.
