Deadpool and Wolverine Movie review A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of watching the first 35 minutes of “Deadpool and Wolverine,” and it left me convinced that it could be the best Marvel movie in years. Now, having seen the entire film, I still believe it’s a fantastic Deadpool movie. However, I’m not convinced it will save the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as many hoped.
Deadpool and Wolverine Movie review: The Perfect Pair
“Deadpool and Wolverine” is undeniably entertaining. It’s anarchic, violent, and filled with the foul-mouthed humor fans expect. Ryan Reynolds continues to embody Deadpool perfectly, and Hugh Jackman is, as always, an excellent Wolverine. The chemistry between them transforms the film into a hilarious buddy comedy, with plenty of jabs and banter that keeps the audience laughing.
Fan Service Galore
From the get-go, “Deadpool and Wolverine” feels like “Fanservice: The Movie.” For those who have eagerly awaited Deadpool’s return, this film delivers in spades. It’s packed with lewd comments, brutal action scenes, and references that comic book fans will adore. The movie also features a slew of cameos from familiar Marvel faces, eliciting cheers and applause from the audience.
Overstuffed and Underbaked
However, the movie’s major flaw is its overreliance on fan service. The plot, while existing, is thin and often overshadowed by cameos, jokes, and violent set pieces. The overarching “save the world” storyline plays second fiddle to these elements, resulting in an uneven narrative with low stakes.
Action and Visuals
The action sequences are hit-or-miss. Some are well-executed, while others suffer from shaky cam and quick cuts that make it hard to follow the action. The CGI, while better than in some recent MCU films, still has issues.
Final Verdict: Deadpool and Wolverine Movie Review
Despite its flaws, “Deadpool and Wolverine” is a fun ride. It’s not the MCU savior some hoped for, but it’s an enjoyable film that will likely be a box office hit. It’s worth seeing for the laughs, action, and the unique dynamic between Deadpool and Wolverine. While it may not reinvigorate the MCU, it’s sure to satisfy fans looking for crass humor and quick thrills.
