Israel-Iran war LIVE: Trump says U.S. to hit Iran much harder if it stopped oil flow in Strait of Hormuz


President Donald Trump warned on Monday (March 9, 2026) that ‌the U.S. would hit Iran much ⁠harder if Tehran stopped the flow of oil through ‌the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important chokepoints, has been experiencing a near-total collapse in commercial traffic following rising tensions in West Asia.

Mr. Trump on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) pushed the idea of the Iran war ending soon, but remained vague on a timeline for ending the attacks that have rocked West Asia and shaken the global economy. More than 20 heavy explosions were heard in Tehran in what was considered the heaviest air raid on the capital since the war started on February 28. Israel’s military said more missiles had been launched from Iran toward Israel late on Monday.

Mr. Trump also had a call on Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the war and other issues.
