Bharatiya Janata Party (BP) Kerala State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has a clear political strategy for at least six or seven constituencies in the upcoming Assembly elections in the State.

Speaking to media persons in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday (March 19, 2026), he said that the candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram Central constituency would be announced soon.

He added that unlike earlier, the BJP today had several competent candidates with excellent leadership qualities in every constituency and that transparent and detailed discussions had taken place before deciding candidates for each constituency.

The upcoming Assembly elections 2026 would be the most crucial election in the history of Kerala, for this was the first time that beyond false promises and the politics of opportunism indulged in by the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF), the people were being given a clear perspective of the future development of the State, he said.

Mr. Chandrasekhar said that neither the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] nor the Congress had anything to say about what they had done so far or what they would do now to change the lives of ordinary people.

Development perspective

The people were clearly seeing for themselves the development perspective that the BJP-NDA had put forth for Kerala and how it could transform the future of the State and the prospects of its next generations, he claimed. This would be the main plank on which the party would fight this Assembly elections, he added.

He said that the BJP was promising a corruption-free administration and reclamation of investments and employment opportunities for the State. “We are not giving any false guarantees for people on the eve of the elections. We are talking about the politics of performance, as evidenced by the development that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured for the people in the past 11 years. Vikasita Keralam is not just a slogan, it is a promise,” Mr. Chandrasekhar said.

He said that it was a certainty that the CPI(M)’s push for a third mandate from the people of Kerala would be dashed. In this Assembly elections, the people had only two options, the UDF and the NDA, he claimed.

Replying to a question on how many constituencies would see a three-way fight, Mr. Chandrasekhar said that in all Assembly constituencies in the State, it would be a three-way fight, if not for the undercurrents or the silent alliance between the CPI(M) and the Congress in constituencies where BJP had strong winning chances. He said that he had experienced it during the last Lok Sabha elections. He said that the Congress and the CPI(M) might think that the people did not comprehend these underhand deals but the people of Kerala would not be fooled in this election.
