The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Saturday demolished “illegal” portions of at least 70 shops during an anti-encroachment drive in Uttam Nagar’s JJ colony area amid heavy policy deployment. A senior MCD official said portions of structures occupying public land and operating in violation of civic norms were removed in a “routine drive” of the civic body.
The action comes days after the MCD on March 8 razed “illegal” portions of a property linked to an accused in the death of 26-year-old Tarun Bhutolia, who was killed in a clash between his family and neighbours amid Holi celebrations.
