Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said she is hopeful that higher courts would deliver a verdict “in favour of the people of Delhi” after a trial court acquitted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, in the excise policy case.

Ms. Gupta said the higher courts had previously expressed concern in the matter, and traces of money laundering had been highlighted during the investigation. “People of Delhi served justice by voting them out. I am sure the higher courts will also deliver judgment in favour of the people soon… The court, in its order, referred to a ‘lack of evidence’. The legal process is not yet complete, and the matter may go to the High Court,” she said.
