Over 80 candidates, including those of various political parties and Independents, filed their nomination papers on Friday. The process draws to a close on Monday.
Congress candidate M. Vaithianathan filed his nomination for the Lawspet constituency while DMK candidate and MLA R. Siva submitted his papers in Villianur.
Home Minister A. Namassivayam filed his nomination in Mannadipet while former Minister M. Kandasamy submitted his papers in Embalam (SC). Former Minister A.K. Sai J. Saravanan Kumar filed his papers as an Independent candidate in Thirubhuvanai (SC).
The candidates of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), PMK and Independents also filed their nominations for various constituencies.
