The Lokayukta police arrested second division assistant Sampath, from the office of Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical), Public Works Department, Mangaluru, on Monday.
The Lokayukta police have arrested second division assistant Sampath, working in the office of Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical), Public Works Department, Mangaluru, for allegedly accepting ₹22,600 from a licenced electrical contractor.
In a release, the Lokyukta police said the complainant had executed in 2025, the work of extension of street lights for gram panchayats in Udupi district. To clear the bill, Sampath demanded a bribe of 4% of the billed amount, which amounted to ₹22,600.
