Bollywood star Shraddha Kapoor has started shooting for her next big project titled Eetha, a biopic based on the life of the legendary Tamasha artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar. The film marks Shraddha’s first collaboration with director Laxman Utekar and is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.
The news broke out after a photo of the film’s clapboard with the title Eetha went viral on social media, sending fans into a frenzy. Though the official announcement from the makers is still awaited, reports suggest that the popular music duo Ajay-Atul will be composing the soundtrack — which already hints at a soulful and powerful musical journey.
Shraddha Kapoor As Vithabai Narayangaonkar
Eetha tells the inspiring story of Vithabai, one of Maharashtra’s most respected Tamasha performers, who dedicated her entire life to keeping the folk art form alive. The film promises to be an emotional and inspiring story, giving Shraddha a strong, performance-driven role — quite different from her previous lighthearted hits.

Who is Vithabai Narayangaonkar?
Vithabai Narayangaonkar, born in Pandharpur, Maharashtra, came from a family deeply rooted in Tamasha art, with her grandfather establishing their troupe “Bhau-Bapu Mang Narayangaonkar.” Exposed to Lavani and folk performances since childhood, she became a legendary Tamasha performer admired for her dedication and courage — famously delivering her baby backstage during a performance and returning to complete the show. Known as the “Tamasha Samradini” (Empress of Tamasha), she received the President’s medals in 1957 and 1990 for her contribution to the art form. Despite her fame, she faced financial struggles later in life. In her honor, the Government of Maharashtra instituted the Vithabai Narayangaonkar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 to recognize artists preserving Tamasha and Lavani traditions.
With Eetha, the actress adds another exciting title to her list of Shraddha Kapoor upcoming movies, showing her versatility and willingness to take on challenging and meaningful roles. Fans can’t wait to see her bring the spirit and strength of Vithabai to life on screen!
